Dial-A-Story, 2006
Dial-A-Story is a service offered by several libraries in Northern California and across the country. Upon dialing the designated telephone number, callers can listen to a children's book read by library staff or volunteer storytellers. I installed a vinyl text display of eleven such telephone numbers on a pay phone in West Oakland. The project was part of, "How to Create a Cultural District and Have it Vanish into the Morning Mists of Dawn," an event put on by Red76 and the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
